Experimentally determining the velocities and temperatures of in-flight metallic feedstock particles during cold gas spraying is challenging. Recently, scientists at the Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH used a state-of-the-art high-speed IR camera to investigate the behavior of two different feedstock materials, In718 and TiAlCrNb, both of which are used as structural materials in gas turbine engines.
